PIPALAND—Celebrating the Year of the Snake

As the Lunar New Year approached, PIPALAND gathered children and parents to welcome the Year of the Snake with joy and excitement! This event was filled with fun, laughter, and meaningful cultural experiences.

Storytime Adventure

The event began with a lively reading of the picture book Little Nian Beast’s Mission, introducing children to a unique twist on the traditional New Year legend. They also learned about the meaning of the Chinese character “福” (fortune) and embarked on a treasure hunt to find hidden “福” symbols throughout the venue, bringing luck and prosperity to the new year.

Singing in the New Year

Children joyfully sang festive songs with the teachers, immersing themselves in the lively atmosphere while strengthening their Chinese language skills through music.

Fun and Games

Next, the children put their thinking caps on for a fun riddle challenge, testing their knowledge of Lunar New Year traditions. Laughter and excitement filled the room as they raced to solve each puzzle.

Creative Lantern Making

During the hands-on craft session, families worked together to create beautiful handmade lanterns. Each child added their personal touch, making a one-of-a-kind decoration to take home and brighten their celebrations.

Surprise Prize Game

One of the most anticipated moments was the lucky “Pop-and-Win” game! Kids eagerly took turns popping surprise-filled boxes, revealing special gifts and red envelopes to bring home good fortune.

Tasting New Year’s Treats

To wrap up the event, everyone enjoyed symbolic Lunar New Year treats: crisp apples for peace, sweet tangerines for prosperity, and soft steamed cakes to wish for success and growth in 2025.
